Sharing the love of Christ.
We share the love of Christ in word and deed as 1 Thessalonians 2:8b says, “Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well” (NIV). In addition, 1 Corinthians 3:6 reminds us that we plant and water and that God is the one with transforms lives. “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow” (NIV).
Our mission statement outlines four specific practices that keep us Christ-centered in our mission work. We call them ‘practices’ to emphasize taking action. Here is an overview:
1. Reading and teaching the Word – “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17, NIV).
2. Serving others – “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10, NIV).
3. Fostering fellowship in Christ – “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42, NIV).
4. Reaching people in our communities – “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone” (Colossians 4:5-6, NIV).
